We Love SoFlo

A movement of people bringing good news to South Florida by showing our love

On friday, I was on my way home from an outing with my friends when I suddenly saw a car being pushed off the pines blvd exit of I-75. Now mind you, it was about 4am and I was already thinking about how fast I was going to knock out once I laid on my bed but without hesitation I felt that I wanted to help these people get home so they too can go to bed and get their rest.

To be honest, I wasn't even thinking about the SoFlo cards, I feel that God just nudged my heart and said imagine if you, being as tired as you are, had to push your car for atleast a quarter mile to get it off the highway.... and compassion kicked in. All of a sudden I had energy and was willing to give a helping hand. I was ready to push the car as far as we needed too but when I asked the couple what had gone wrong, they said they just ran out of gas. At that point, I was like Ok, no problem... Let's just go to the nearest gas station, fill up a half gallon container of gas which I always keep in the car and then come back to put the gas in the car. He was very pleased to see that someone was willing to help him.

So we went to the gas station and he offered to give me some money to compensate for the favor. I told him that I couldn't accept the money but instead I handed him the SoFlo card and said if you want to repay me, do something good for someone else and hand them this card to keep this thing going and growing. He was so appreciative and surprised to see that someone would care and go out of their way to serve others. At that point he even mentioned that the least thing he can do is visit the church so I truly hope to see him there soon.

Anyways, on the way back to the car, I use the opportunity to share my faith as well as explain the mission of We Love SoFlo. He didn't stop expressing how much he appreciated the help. Finally we get back to the car, filled her up and the couple were on their way.

I just want to say that I am glad that God opened this opportunity for me to serve and even though I had to stay up later, I felt so great afterwards that I ended up having a better nights sleep than usual. Can't wait to help and serve again.

How fantastic, Mike! You "fueled" more than just their car. I love how you just made yourself available and let God work through you. Hooray!

Hi Mike,

It's fun to read about the way you're connecting with people for Jesus. I am hundreds of miles away, but I can feel how happy it makes you to share Jesus with others by going the extra mile. See you again soon.

Its so neat when God puts you in just the right place and just the right time. And even better that you listened to God's nudge to help these people. Yeah!
